What is a Proper Garden?

A proper garden is never forced. It is thoughtfully tended, allowed to grow in its own rhythm, and shaped with intention rather than excess. It balances structure with freedom, beauty with purpose, and creates a place where people naturally slow down, gather, and return.

At 6th & Foster, we believe flowers should be designed the same way.

Ours is a floral house inspired by European garden traditions and guided by a singular design sensibility. Under the creative direction of Andrew Parravano, the shop has settled into its most authentic expression—thoughtful, refined, and deeply connected to this community.

Here, every stem is chosen with intention, and every arrangement is composed with care. Flowers are given room to reach, to soften, and to find their place within a thoughtful composition, reflecting the quiet beauty of a garden growing as nature intended.

Whether you’re selecting flowers for your home, celebrating a meaningful occasion, or simply stopping in to enjoy the beauty of the season, we hope you’ll find a place that feels welcoming, inspiring, and familiar.

This is more than a flower shop.

This is a place made by and for this community.

A Proper Garden

Garden Hospitality

At 6th & Foster, we cultivate beauty and belonging—through flowers.

To us, it has always been about more than flowers. It is about hospitality, not in the traditional sense, but in the way of a garden: generous, unhurried, and deeply welcoming.

The kind of hospitality found in English gardens and French courtyards, where beauty invites conversation, where people gather naturally, and where the details make you want to stay a little longer.

Flowers may be the reason people first walk through our doors, but they are only the beginning. What we are really cultivating is a place—one shaped by artistry, seasonality, and community.

A place people return to.

A place they don’t want to leave.

More Than A Flower Shop

We have always believed that flowers have a way of bringing people together. Today, that belief is taking root in new ways.

As the gardens around 6th & Foster continue to grow, so too does our vision for this place. Our front garden invites neighbors to linger among the blooms, while a new garden courtyard is beginning to take shape behind the shop—a peaceful setting designed for conversation, creativity, and community.

In the seasons ahead, you’ll find more than flowers here. We imagine a place where refreshments are shared, music fills the garden, creativity is nurtured, and neighbors become friends. A place for floral workshops, thoughtful conversations, seasonal gatherings, and quiet moments surrounded by beauty.

Like any proper garden, this vision will continue to grow with care and intention. We look forward to welcoming you as it unfolds—one season, one gathering, and one beautiful moment at a time.
